With the support of his University, Simon Rittmeier (on the right), at the time student at Internationale Filmschule Köln, documented the interviews the participants conducted with survivors of the Theresienstadt concentration camp. The photo with his sound assistant Christoph Engler was taken by Karim Hamza in Tel Aviv, but most of the filming was done in Beit Terezin, Ashkelon and Kiriat Tivon. Simon combined the original footage from 2006 with segments of the 1944 Nazi propaganda film "Theresienstadt: A Documentary Film from the Jewish Settlement Area". In 2020, a new edition of Simon’s work has been released under the heading "Fragments from Terezin".
