With the support of the German National Erasmus+ Agency, the youth initiatives "Wilhemstraße 77" from Berlin and "Trieste Tropen" from Groningen (Netherlands) carried out the project "Reflecting Colonialism". The main goal of the two-week programme was to come to terms with Europe’s colonial heritage. It revolved around the question to what extent the misconceptions, errors, and crimes of the colonial past are subject of a self-critical discussion today. In Amsterdam’s Tropenmuseum, the group explored educational approaches used in contemporary museology in dealing with the wide array of racist mind-sets pressing today.
